Recycled polyester

According to NikeInc.com, “Reclaimed, discarded plastic bottles are melted down to produce new yarn and converted into fabric to create NIKE’s high performance apparel.” By using recycled PET content, the process reduces energy consumption by 30% when compared to manufacturing with virgin polyester.





basketball shorts are made from 100% recycled polyester, while the jersey fabric is made from approximately 96% recycled polyester. An average of 22 recycled plastic bottles are used in the making of these uniforms.

Nike football kits

All Nike national football kits contain recycled plastic bottles, with an average of 13 recycled bottles going into the fabric of each kit. Approximately 16 million recycled plastic bottles went into the creation of this year’s kit. That is the equivalent of enough kit to cover 28 football pitches. Uniforms in the Nike Pro TurboSpeed collection use an average of 82% recycled polyester and up to an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles
