CYCLE DE VIE D'UN PRODUIT ÉCO-CONÇU

http://www.lafuma.com/quest-ce-quun-produit-eco-concu/

THE HIGHEST ANIMAL WELFARE STANDARD IN THE APPAREL INDUSTRY
After introducing our first 100% Traceable Down products in our ultralight down collection in 2013, this year we became the first apparel manufacturer of our size to move our entire down sup- ply chain to 100% Traceable Down. Beginning in fall 2014, all of the down in all of our down products can be traced back to birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked.
We started to address the challenge of animal welfare in our down supply chain in 2007, but really dug in to develop our 100% Traceable Down standard in 2011, after our friends at Four Paws (an animal welfare group) alerted us to our shortcomings. Today, our standard provides the most robust assurance of sound ani- mal welfare in the apparel industry. The measures we’ve taken to verify that our down is all traceable go far beyond written guar- antees and supplier self-certification. We conducted a holistic traceability audit consisting of a physical inspection of the entire supply chain, from farm to factory, performed by our indepen- dent, third-party traceability expert partners at Arche Advisors.
“We begin our audit at the parent farm, where the eggs are laid and where there is the highest risk for live plucking,” said Wendy Savage, social and environmental responsibility manag- er at Patagonia. “Then, to ensure full traceability, we follow the down all the way to the garment factory, where we make sure it’s segregated from the down of other brands, and is used only in our garments. We need to understand every single part of the supply chain—otherwise we can’t truly feel comfortable claiming the down is 100% traceable.”
Down provides the lightest-weight and most efficient insulation commercially available. As a result, down-insulated jackets re- main an important staple in our product offering. As with every product we sell, the company feels a deep sense of responsibili- ty to try to understand the entire supply chain.
We will continue to partner and share what we know with indus- try stakeholders, as well as animal welfare organizations, looking to implement the best down traceability practices. As in the past with organically grown cotton and recycled polyester, we hope to inspire other companies to also look closely at their own down supply chains and follow a down traceability model as good or better than the one we’ve established.

FROM PLASTIC TO FOOTBALL KIT

http://www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/better-world/recycled/innovation

RECYCLED POLYESTER TRANSFORMS PLASTIC BOTTLES INTO SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE GEAR.SO FAR, OVER 2 BILLION HAVE BEEN DIVERTED FROM LANDFILLS.

VIDEO
“Made with at least 96% recycled polyester and using an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles per kit, the 2012 National Team Kit is our most environmentally-friendly ever. Which means it’s already scored one goal before you even put it on.” – NikeInc.com

Recycled polyester

According to NikeInc.com, “Reclaimed, discarded plastic bottles are melted down to produce new yarn and converted into fabric to create NIKE’s high performance apparel.” By using recycled PET content, the process reduces energy consumption by 30% when compared to manufacturing with virgin polyester.

basketball shorts are made from 100% recycled polyester, while the jersey fabric is made from approximately 96% recycled polyester. An average of 22 recycled plastic bottles are used in the making of these uniforms.

Nike football kits

All Nike national football kits contain recycled plastic bottles, with an average of 13 recycled bottles going into the fabric of each kit. Approximately 16 million recycled plastic bottles went into the creation of this year’s kit. That is the equivalent of enough kit to cover 28 football pitches. Uniforms in the Nike Pro TurboSpeed collection use an average of 82% recycled polyester and up to an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles

MONOMATERIAL - CLOSED-LOOP RECYCLING PROCESS

http://www.okabashi.com/Recycle-Flip-Flops

Closed-Loop Recycling Process

The majority of shoes are quite unrecyclable, and most
shoe recycling programs are really shoe redistribution
programs. At Okabashi, we believe in closed-loop recycling
to reduce the use of virgin material and to keep old shoes
from becoming environmental waste.

The amount of recycled material in each pair depends

on the amount available. The average pair of Okabashi

sandals made this year contains 15-25% recycled

material.

Zero Waste, Lean Manufacturing

Our production process is virtually waste-free. Almost all
scraps and excess materials are kept free from
contaminants and sent through our Microplast Recycling
Process. The 2% of re-ground material that cannot be
recycled in our factory are sent to our partner company for
use in non-apparel goods. Additionally, our recycling,
molding, and shut-down procedures enable zero emission
of chlorine gas.

The result? We were able to re-introduce and reuse over 100,000 pounds of scrap material last year alone,

diverting 10 tractor trailers full of waste from our landfills.

Post-Consumer Recycling Program

If you return your well-loved and worn Okabashis to our factory, we will recycle them. Returns that are free from
contamination are recycled for use in new Okabashi products. Returns with contaminants are processed and recycled
for use in non-apparel goods.

Durable, Washable and Recyclable

Other shoes sold in the United States are designed to wear out in 3 to 9 months. Most shoes are difficult to clean, wear
out quickly, and are nearly impossible to recycle. Okabashi shoes and sandals typically last 2 to 4 years, are machine
washable & dishwasher-safe, and are 100% recyclable. Durable, recyclable Okabashi shoes reduce consumer
expenses as well as the natural resources needed to produce and transport new shoes. Your new Okabashi shoes
should last at least 2 years - we guarantee it.

Vegan Friendly

The Okabashi brand is 100% vegan-friendly. Our entire footwear line contains no animal skins or byproducts, and our
shoes are not tested on animals. Most sandals and flip flops that contain animal by-products such as leather and
adhesives are nearly impossible to recycle and end up polluting our landfills for hundreds of years.

VEGAN SHOES

http://www.ethletic.com

The Fair Skater `urban` is a classic modern sneaker made of organic FAIRTRADE canvas cotton and natural Fair Trade rubber. The rubber plantations are controlled by the Forest Stewardship Council®. The organic cotton supplychain is controlled by Fairtrade Foundation. ETHLETIC shoes were the first which got FLO certification in spring 2010.

The Ethical Alternative

Ethletic products are FairTrade produced, from FairTrade sustainable resources and 100% vegan. The resources for Ethletic products exclusively come from a controlled and internationally certified FairTrade supply chain

Why Fairtrade?

Our mission is to ensure that everyone involved into the production process receives a fair share. We support a fair business model to counter the profit-oriented system that leads to poverty and economical dependence through exploitation. All our products originate from certified Fairtrade supply chains. What’s more, part of our profit is channelled directly back into our own Fairtrade projects.

Why emphasize sustainability?

We want to STOP valuable agricultural region being exploited and left as desolate wastelands. We only use certified organic cotton (GOTS certified) for our products . The soles of our shoes are made of natural rubber instead of synthetic materials. All of our plantations are FSC certified. Amazingly, 1ha (2.5 acres) of rubber trees recycles seven times more CO² than 1ha of rainforest!

Why vegan?

We believe no animal should suffer in the name of Ethletic! Absolutely no oils, fats, glues or dyes deriving from animals or animal carcasses are used in the manufacturing of our products.
